Arrive on Friday, November 4 for the 4:00 pm presentation in front of the new Puma Exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoological and Botanical Gardens. On Saturday, November 5, return to the Cincinnati Zoo for the 9:00 to 5:00 pm Wildlife Conservation Educator’s Course. After a catered lunch, students will walk down the hill to the Cheetah Encounter Arena for a special cheetah presentation and wildlife talk.

We have something special lined up for the next course - two bonus wildlife presentations that give students the opportunity to see examples of wildlife presentations by seasoned professionals.

Students are encouraged to arrive in town Friday so they can watch a 4:00 pm presentation in front of the new Puma Exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoological and Botanical Gardens. Wildlife Conservation Educator’s Course instructor Ron DeArmond will speak to students and zoo goers on America’s great cat. Zoo cat handlers will demonstrate puma behavior conditioning inside the new state-of-the-art outdoor exhibit. For this presentation, meet at the front gate on Vine Street at 3:30, and be led in a group for the puma show.

On Saturday, November 5, return to the Cincinnati Zoo entrance at 9:00, and head for the Flamingo Room in the Tree Tops building, for the 8-hour Wildlife Conservation Educator’s Course. This multimedia presentation teaches students how to prepare for a wildlife presentation, how to create a program, how to build credibility and public image, and how to pick, condition, and safely present wildlife ambassadors, with special emphasis on felids.

After a catered lunch, students will walk down the hill to the Cheetah Encounter Arena, where they will witness cheetahs doing what they do best – running at 70 miles an hour! This special presentation will be followed with a wildlife talk by the cheetah trainers, giving students another opportunity to view a professional wildlife presentation.

The day will wrap up with a test, and passing students will be awarded a decorative certificate of achievement.
